Over the past 10 years of my career as a hair and make up artist i came to really appriciate to work with those who are hard working, grounded, nice and professional.
Model Ali Tate Cutler is definitely one of them. Not only is she a 24/7 fully booked plus size model, travelling all around the world, working for huge fashion clients like MANGO and RALPH LAUREN, but also she is the most warm hearted, fun and down to earth person you can imagine.
Meet her now in my interview i just did this summer and see what she has to say about her life in the plus size model industry and her everyday beauty routine.
When did you start to work as a plussize model?
I started working as a plus size model 4 years ago when I was studying abroad in London! I entered a curvy modeling competition, and the rest is history.
What do you love about your job?
I love the amazingly wonderful, creative, and like minded people I get to meet in this job. There is an amazing exchange of ideas on a shoot! I also love getting done up (still) and becoming someone else for a day. I get try on different personalities- it’s really the escapism I love about modeling!
How is it working with the other girls? Is there a lot of bitching or is it a lot of fun?
The other plus size models in my industry are FANTASTIC! They are normal, funny, smart girls. They are the friends every girl wants, and they light up rooms whenever they walk in. I love the sisterhood we have amongst plus size models- pretty much everyone has each others back!

What has been the job you are most proud of?
I have been the most proud of working for Mango and Ralph Lauren! They were two brands I looked up to as a kid, and clothes I wore. I was so happy when they booked me!
How do you deal with travelling and keeping your skin fresh?
My skin has it’s ups and downs. Every girl knows how that goes (cough, PMS). But when I travel I drink loads of coconut water, and regular water. I also exfoliate twice a day and use a vegan, organic face moisturizer for plane rides to lock in the moisture. Skin is also so depending on the foods we eat- so I make sure to eat less sugar and dairy, and drink way more juices!

Do you have any tips for looking good after little sleep?
Hmmm…. Nope! I look and feel like a corpse after I have little sleep. But the one thing that makes me feel better throughout the day is if I juice and drink loads of water with cucumber in it. I also love my onset power naps! They have saved my life.
What are your make up must haves?
I love St Ives facial wash, and Dr Hauschka moisturizer. They are the best prep to any makeup routine. My favorite skin makeup would have to be Bobby Brown– it looks so fresh and dewy!
… and for hair?
For hair I use a heat protector and some morrocan oil to lock in moisture and keep my hair looking silky. I also adore the Brazilian hair Keratin treatment. It costs a lot, but it keeps hair healthier and easier to maintain for 6 months. For someone who is always on the go, it is an essential.
Do you happen to have some beauty essentials in your handbag?
I have my organic deodorant PitRock (my ESSENTIAL), and my all time favorite Carmex lip balm. Also can’t go anywhere without my vegan face oil, Sinavalia. I will always carry a little bit of Mac face powder around in my purse in case I run into some shine!
Where are you travelling next?
As I write, I just landed in Berlin! And in a few days, I am onto beautiful Bali! Peace and namaste 🙂
